Infant & Toddler

Survival Swim Program

About Our Program

The Infant and Toddler Survival Swim program is a unique style of swimming lessons that equips your child with the necessary skills to survive in the water.  We use a gentle approach to introduce your child to the water and guide them through the lesson process.  Once trust has been built and they become comfortable in the water, we teach your child to roll over from a face-down position or a submerged position, onto their back to relax and breathe.
Toddlers will also learn the swim-float-swim sequence.  This is the ability to swim a short distance with their face fully submerged, roll on their back to rest when they need to breathe, then flip back onto their stomach to continue to swim to safety.
Survival Swim lessons transform infants and toddlers from being totally helpless in the water to being more confident by teaching them how to save themselves.

About Me

I grew up loving the water. In high school, I was on the swim and water polo team and held a job as a lifeguard and the pool manager for a neighborhood pool. I’ve since grown to love snorkeling, sailing and became certified in scuba diving. Being around water is my happy place.
I always felt it was important for kids to learn how to swim to feel confident around water and wanted them to experience as much fun as I did. Tragically, I learned firsthand the importance of quality swim-float-swim lessons when a dear friend, lost her sweet, 2 1/2-year-old son, Gunner, to an accidental drowning in their own backyard pool. This is when I learned that drowning is the number one cause of death for children younger than the age of 5.

As a pool owner and grandmother of 5 children, all under the age of five years old, this terrified me. I became an advocate for swim-float-swim lessons for all young children and was certified as a survival swim instructor through the Survival Swim Development Network. It is a joy to watch my young students grow in confidence with new skills in the water. Some cry and fight it at the beginning but I tailor my lessons to meet the needs of each student. I help them gently turn that fear into a skill that may one day save their life and give them a healthy, love of water to last their lifetime.
